Sea Anemone (Giant Carpet)
About the Sea Anemone (Giant Carpet)
The host anemone for clownfish, made famous by Finding Nemo. Over 1,000 sea anemone species exist but only 10 host clownfish. The anemone provides protection while the clownfish chases away predators and provides nutrients through waste. They can live 100+ years in the wild. They can move slowly by creeping along on their base or by detaching and drifting. Some reproduce by splitting in half longitudinally. Their tentacles contain potent nematocysts that paralyze prey. They are not plants but animals.
