About the Mantis Shrimp (Peacock)

They can punch at 80 km/h, accelerating faster than a .22-caliber bullet. The strike is so fast it boils the water around the fist, creating a shockwave and flash of light (cavitation). They have the most complex eyes in the animal kingdom: 16 types of photoreceptors, seeing ultraviolet, polarized light, and possibly circular polarized light that no other animal can detect. They can break aquarium glass with a single punch. Over 450 species exist. They can distinguish between different types of coral. Their strikes deliver 1,500 newtons of force. They are neither shrimp nor mantids.
