About the Tuna (Bluefin)

The most valuable fish in the ocean - a single bluefin sold for $3.1 million at Tokyo fish market in 2019. They are warm-blooded, rare among fish, allowing them to hunt in cold waters. They can swim at 70 km/h and cross the Atlantic in 60 days. Pacific bluefin populations are at 3% of historic levels. They can live 40+ years. They are descended from a lineage 40 million years old. They can retract their fins into grooves for reduced drag. Their flesh is prized for sushi. ICCAT manages them but quotas have consistently been set too high.
