Clown Triggerfish

About the Clown Triggerfish

One of the most strikingly patterned fish in the ocean with bold black, white, and yellow markings. Their spots are unique to each individual. They can lock their dorsal spine upright to wedge themselves into crevices. They have powerful jaws that crush sea urchins and shellfish. They are territorial and can be aggressive. Males build and guard nests. Over 40 species of triggerfish exist. They can rotate their eyes independently. They sleep on their side. They are popular aquarium fish despite their aggressive nature. They make grunting sounds when threatened.
