About the Anglerfish (Deep Sea)

Males are tiny parasites that permanently fuse with females, sharing blood supply and eventually losing all organs except testes. The female essentially absorbs the male. Their bioluminescent lure glows in the pitch-black deep ocean to attract prey. They can swallow prey twice their size thanks to a hinged skull and expandable stomach. They live where pressure is 400x atmospheric. Over 200 species exist. They were first photographed alive in their habitat in 2014. Their jaws are lined with translucent, needle-like teeth. Most live below 1,000 meters where no sunlight reaches.
