About the Eel (Green Moray)

Their green color comes from a yellow mucous coating over their dark blue skin. They are among the largest moray eels. They have poor eyesight and rely on smell. They are nocturnal. They can live 30+ years. They are not aggressive unless provoked. They are the most commonly encountered moray in the Caribbean. They sometimes share dens with other eels. Their bite can cause serious infection due to bacteria in their mouth. They are important reef predators that keep fish populations in balance.
