About the Leafy Seadragon

Even more elaborate than the leafy sea dragon, with more ornate appendages. They are virtually impossible to spot in their natural seaweed habitat. They are endemic to southern Australia. They are a protected species with heavy fines for collection. Males carry eggs on their tail. They have no teeth or stomach. They are poorer swimmers than seahorses. They are the faunal emblem of South Australia. Their population is threatened by habitat loss. They are sometimes called gladiators of the sea. Unlike seahorses, their appendages provide no propulsion, only camouflage.
