About the Wrasse (Napoleon)

The largest wrasse and one of the largest reef fish, reaching 190 kg. They are also called humphead wrasse. They can live 30+ years and change sex from female to male. They eat crown-of-thorns starfish and toxic boxfish, apparently immune to their toxins. They are endangered due to the live reef fish food trade, fetching $100+ per kg. They are protogynous hermaphrodites. They are found throughout the Indo-Pacific. Their lips are considered a delicacy in some Asian cuisines. Their populations have crashed in many areas.
