About the Siphonophore (Portuguese Man o War group)
Colonial animals that are among the longest organisms on Earth - some species reach 40+ meters. Each individual in the colony is a specialized zooid - some swim, some feed, some reproduce, some defend. They are not jellyfish but are related. The Praya dubia can reach 50 meters, making it longer than a blue whale. They are bioluminescent. They are found worldwide in deep water. They represent one of the most complex examples of colonial organization. Some species have thousands of zooids in a single colony.
