About the Jellyfish (Atolla)

Also called the alarm jellyfish because it produces brilliant bioluminescent flashes when attacked, intended to attract larger predators that will attack whatever is threatening it. This is called a burglar alarm defense strategy. They are among the most common deep-sea jellyfish. They have a distinctive crown-shaped bell with a single trailing tentacle much longer than the others, used for capturing prey. They are found at 700-3,000 meters depth. They are deep red in color. They are a key food source for many deep-sea animals.
