About the Jellyfish (Lion Mane)

The largest jellyfish in the world - their tentacles can exceed 30 meters, longer than a blue whale. The largest recorded had a bell 2.1 meters across and tentacles 37 meters long. Their sting is painful but rarely fatal to humans. They are found in cold northern waters. They serve as shelter for juvenile fish and invertebrates. They are food for leatherback turtles and ocean sunfish. Their color ranges from deep red to orange. They reproduce both sexually and asexually. They have been found in aggregations of thousands.
