About the Cuttlefish

The chameleons of the sea - they can change color, pattern, and texture in milliseconds using millions of chromatophores. They have W-shaped pupils and can see polarized light. They have one of the largest brain-to-body ratios of any invertebrate. They are colorblind despite their color-changing ability - they detect color through their skins photoreceptors instead. Their cuttlebone controls buoyancy. They hypnotize prey with rhythmic color pulses before striking. They can impersonate other species to avoid predators. Over 100 species exist. They are considered one of the smartest invertebrates after octopuses.
