About the Octopus (Blanket)

The most extreme sexual dimorphism of any animal. Females are 10,000-40,000x heavier than males. Males are only 2.4 cm long and have a detachable arm modified for sperm transfer that breaks off inside the female after mating. The male then dies. Females have a stunning web between their arms that they spread like a cape to appear larger. They are immune to the sting of Portuguese man o war and have been observed ripping off tentacles to use as weapons. They are pelagic, living in the open ocean.
