About the False Killer Whale

Named for their resemblance to orcas but are not closely related. They are among the most social cetaceans, forming long-term bonds and sharing food with each other. They are known to offer fish to human swimmers and divers. They can dive to 500 meters. They are prone to mass strandings. Main Hawaiian Islands population is critically endangered with fewer than 200 individuals. They are actually large dolphins. They can live 60+ years. They sometimes depredate (steal fish from) longline fishing gear.
