About the Orca (Killer Whale)

The oceans top predator - they even eat great white sharks. They hunt in coordinated packs called pods with complex strategies passed down through generations. Different populations have completely different cultures, diets, and languages. They intentionally beach themselves to grab seals, then wriggle back into the water. They teach their young hunting techniques over years. A 105-year-old orca named Granny was still leading her pod. They have never been documented killing a human in the wild. Their brain weighs 5-7 kg, the second largest of any animal. Captive orcas live significantly shorter lives than wild ones.
