About the Fin Whale

The second largest animal on Earth after the blue whale. They can reach 22 meters and 80 tonnes. They are the fastest of the great whales, reaching 45 km/h, earning the nickname greyhound of the sea. The lower right jaw is white while the lower left is dark - asymmetrical coloration that may help them hunt. They were heavily hunted in the 20th century, losing 70% of their population. They are now endangered with about 100,000 worldwide. Their blows can reach 6 meters. They can live 90+ years. They produce the lowest-frequency sounds of any whale.
