About the Spinner Dolphin

Famous for their acrobatic spinning leaps, rotating up to 7 times in a single jump. They spin to remove remora parasites, communicate, and possibly just for fun. They school in pods of 200+. They rest in shallow bays during the day and feed in deep water at night. They are among the most abundant dolphins with over 600,000 in the eastern tropical Pacific alone. They are sometimes caught in tuna nets. They have a distinctive tri-color pattern. They can dive to 300 meters. They communicate with complex click and whistle patterns.
